The Executive of SWASAL recently met with the newly appointed Director of Sports, Ibrahim Bangura.
Since coming into office, the executive continues to reach out to stakeholders in sports.
President Frank Cole congratulated Mr. Bangura on his appointment as Director of Sports. He further thanked the director for making it possible for SWASAL representation in the All African games that ended in Brazzaville recently.
Cole highlights the power of the media in propagating the activities of sports in the country and called for collaboration.
He said as an organization “we always hold our annual awards and this is one area we can collaborate,” he said.
Responding, Mr. Ibrahim Bangura said it is a privilege to meet with SWASAL, saying “I have always been a member of the sporting family especially sports journalists”.
The newly appointed director called on SWASAL to develop code of practice for sports journalists, noting that this will help promote objectivity in reporting to their audience.
The director said the ministry has lots of activities, among them is to hold weekly press briefing to update the wider public on the ministry and sporting activities.
“Let’s work together and see how best we will be able to promote sports in the country.
