Sierra Leone Sports: Stanford Bridge FC Represent Kroobay

Sports

In these years Central One Football Association [COFA] Inter-Community League, Kroobay Community will be represented by Stanford Bridge FC as Giants of Bay FC failed to register for this year Community League. Stanford Bridge like it happen in Manchester and other communities in Europe, Africa and other Continents is a break away from Giants of Bay football club. Kroobay is a football community and have produced vital players that are playing in the premier league and other leagues in the country but most times they depend on signing from other communities instead of grooming their own players. This gave the cause to the upcoming players to form their club. They are yet in the Non- Division fighting to register in the division- 2 league. This is their first opportunity ever to represent a community they base. Even though they are going into the league with their name they believe they have is that they are representing the entire Kroobay community. An officer in club Barrie Alpha said they were expecting to see the big players to join them bring the trophy into Kroobay this year. He went on that he was surprise to see the big players running away from their community to play for another community as he believe that this is the time for them to pay back to their community. But he said that could not destroy their game plan for the league as they have wealth of experience players crop with young players that he believe can win or go far into the league. According to sources from COFA, 40 Community teams will be battling in the league which will kick-off second week in September. Apart from Giants of Bay, teams like Accentonians FC, Congo Town, Lumley and Okaymarie will be missing in action this season. According to COFA, Accession Town failed to pay a fine, Congo Town failed to honor the fixture and Lumley failed to appear for their last match in the league. Thursday September 05, 2013
