The Organizing Secretary of Solar Spikers Volleyball club, Michael J. Bangura, said they have been invited to take part in a friendly competition in Guinea from 30 June – 5 July 2018.
He said they will be playing against ADAC Volleyball club de Dubreka one of the best Volleyball Clubs in Guinea, which has talented players which most of them are part of Guinea National team.
The Solar Spikers team is made up of players that are children of solders (RSLAF) residing at Wilberforce barracks in Freetown. The team is expected to depart on Friday with a 32 man delegation comprised of players and officials.
According to the President of the club, this is the first time Solar Spikers volleyball team will participate in an international friendly volleyball competition and they hope to make Sierra Leone proud.
The female captain, Francess Lansana, said they calling on companies and individuals to give them financially support as they have players that are coming from the provinces that they need to pay transportation for and provide food during training sessions.
Musa Jabatta, the male captain of the club, said they are looking forward to such a friendly that will be good for the club as most of the players will be having international exposure he said presently they are training twice a day morning and evening.
