The Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) is to postpone the national championship which was scheduled for the 28th , 29th April and 1st MAY this year at the national stadium.
The President’s SLAA Abdul Karim Sesay disclosed to this medium that the executive of the association have agreed to postpone the date of the competition and the venue as well. “The executive of the association has agreed for the date and venue, but we have to meet with the ministry of sport, so that we can explain to them that we have decided to change the date and venue for the national championship and after that meeting we will announce the reasons for the change of date and venue,” Karim said.
He further stated that if the ministry of sports will grant the association permission, then the national championship will be held in the newly constructed stadium in Bo town and the date will be announced immediately.
He concluded that the reschedule of the competition will help the athlete to prepare more for the competition as they will have to compete with neighboring countries like Guinea, Liberia, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast and may be Nigeria, with Sierra Leonean athlete based in Europe.
