Sixers Volleyball Club women’s team beat defending champions Young Stars ladies 3 straight to capture the Western Area inter club volleyball championship on Sunday 19th June 2016 at the Siaka Steven Stadium Volleyball court in Freetown.
Sixers comfortably defeated Young stars 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18 in a sunshiny and colourful grand final which volleyball fans earlier predicted to be a match that will end in favour of the defending champions.
But to the surprise of the rousing spectators the match turned out to be an easy work over for the under-dogs.
It was the first time in more than five years that the easterners won the City championship.
“For us to come to this grand final and win the championship was a great performance put up by my girls. That just doesn’t happen; it takes resilience and confidence to gain such achievement, “said Sarah Kabba who serves as the clubs head coach.
