The Sierra Leone hope of a successful 20th Commonwealth Games now solidly rests with the combined male and female Athletics teams. They will compete in the 4×100 relays today.
Both teams therefore will need to qualify to see the country’s athletics ambassadors through to the finals.
The female relays are expected to be run by Eke, Hafastu Shaid Kamara, Michaela Kargbo, Rebecca Ansumana and Mariatu Suma. One of the five will stay aside as reserve.
The male 4×100 relay team includes Solomon Bockarie, Adel Sesay, Jimmy Thoronka and Gibrilla Pato Bangura.
Coach Jimmy Wright who is looking forward to win at least one medal has pleaded with the athletes to do everything in their powers to qualify and at least win a medal.
Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s athletes failed to qualify to the semifinals of the male and female 200 meters dash.
