Sierra Leone Sports: Sierra Leone to compete in African Youth Games

The Chef de Mission of Sierra Leone, Unisa Deen Kargbo, said Sierra Leone is going to compete in this year African Youth Games to be hosted in Algeria and has been slated for 5-15, of next month in their capital Algiers.
He stated that Swimming Diving and Water Polo, Atheltics association and host of other association are expected to take part the games.
We are expecting around 2,500 athletes from 54 countries to compete in African are taking part in this year’s Games across 21 sports and the event in four year’s time is expected to be on a similar scale.
According to Ibrahim Kamara the awarding of the 2018 African Youth Games came following an inspection tour of several scheduled possible venues by a high-level ANOCA delegation to Algiers on March 18.
Among the sports facilities they inspected were the local suburbs of Souidania, Koléa and Cheraga, as well as the Mohamed-Boudiaf Olympic Complex and the Ouled Fayet Students’ Hostel, where athletes will be lodged during the Games.
Algerian National Olympic Committee President Moustapha Berraf said he signed the hosting agreement on behalf of Algerian Minister for Sport, Professor Mohammed Tahmi, with President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and Honorary International Olympic Committee member, Lassana Palenfo also present
Some of the athletes who are expected to represent the country said they are looking forward to the games and they hope to do their best to put the country on the map and call on the authority for their support.
