A major boost for Sierra Leone in this month FIFA’s Coca-cola ranking is the moving 14th places up making the World’s top 50 teams and 7th in Africa.
Sierra Leone dropped to 64th with 649 points and was also out of Africa’s top ten countries in last month’s July ranking table.
However, this is the highest ranking ever in Sierra Leone football history. The last was in 1996, when they were 51st in the World and 9th in Africa.
The lowest was 172 September 2007. Recent results, with victory against Swaziland and Seychelles have put Sierra Leone in a positive position in the World’s global table.
Sierra Leone can keep their progress in the world ranking if they can reach the finals of the African Nations Cup 2015 in Morocco by dislodging one of the two giant nations in Africa; the Lions of Cameroon or the Elephants of Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, the Germans are still topping the World table, followed by Argentina and the Netherlands. While in Africa, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt are Africa’s top five.
