Executive members of one of the country’s renowned Football clubs-Amputee Football yesterday donated 100 bags of rice and 25 gallons of cooking oil to its members countrywide.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the club, Albert Mustapha, the donation was made, based on the decision that the current outbreak of the Ebola virus has had some negative impact on basic food commodities in the market, of which rice is most primary.
He said that they have decided to provide for their members, as a way of helping to remove them from the streets, where they are likely to contract the disease.
He stated that at the moment, no amputee has contracted the Ebola virus, and that they have joined in sensitizing the people on how to prevent the disease.
He says “even though we are disabled, but we are all citizens of Sierra Leone. We want to draw the attention of the government that we too have joined hands to sensitize willingly out of the little from our pockets to provide for our members”.
He said that they have also composed a song to send the message to the people of this country that Ebola is real and can kill.
