The scribe of the Sierra Dream Foundation, Lamin Sheriff, said the Organizing Committee of the Foundation has awarded two goals and three points to Fourah Bay.
During the match played on 19 August 2017 between Fourah Bay and Moa Wharf the match did not end and based on the referee reports plus other findings by the Organizing Committee, they awarded two goals and three points to Fourah Bay community.
The Chief Executive officer of the Foundation, Benjamin Gordon, said, “This action was taken in accordance with our rules and regulations binding the Sierra Dream Foundations inter-community league.”
He said by their constitution rule7, 8 and 10 gave them the mandate to act therein.
According to rule 7; A team is responsible for the behaviour of its player(s) and fan(s). That is before, during and after the match.
If a match is abandoned and the team player(s) official(s) or fan(s) is the cause of the abandonment, the team shall forfeit the match to the opponent with three (3) points and (2) goals plus other sanction from the Organizing Committee.
In rule 8, it states, ”Decisions by the match officials during the game cannot be protested by a team.”
In Rule 10 also stated that matters or issues not provided in this by law shall be determined by the Organizing Committee ”
Having explained all these rules, the goals and points have therefore be awarded to the Fourah Bay Community, thus Fourah Bay Community has proceeded to the next stage which is the semi final.
Emmanuel Kamara who has been following the competition said the Sierra Dream Foundation league has been rocked by poor officiating, which is not good for the competition. He also appealed to the organizer to be firm in their decision if they want the competition to end.
