Sierra Leone Handball Association is preparing for the International Handball Federation (IHF) trophy in Guinea slated for 23rd – 28th July 2016.
Speaking to this medium the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association Femi Cole has said that they the players are in intensive training ahead of the tournament.
He also revealed that the executive is trying to make the final selection of players and officials in the coming days that will represent the country
Femi stated that they will be having both male and female teams and the female team is expected to comprise of 14 players born in 1997 and younger and they should have one head of delegation who should be a woman.
The male team of 14 players also born in 1996 and younger headed by a male as leader of the delegation.
He also revealed that four coaches two for each team who will attend the coaching course and a couple of referees who will also be attending the referee’s course.
Femi also mentioned that the Salone delegation is expected to depart on the 21st July 2016 before the arrival date which is on the 22nd July 2016.
He also stated that Sierra Leone female team has been placed in Group B alongside Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania and Morocco. In the group Morocco will be playing not as competitor as a guest to the tournament so their points will not be counted.
While the male team is in group B alongside Guinea, Senegal and Mauritania.
