The Volleyball Federation is currently preparing the beach volleyball space on the Lumley Beach for the qualifying tourney for the the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Salone tournament is scheduled from the 27-29 of October.
”We are preparing the venue because we want to have a successful tournament not just because we want to be a good host, but this is what we are known for as an National Federation both locally and internationally, said the President, Christopher E.F. John.
He said they want to make sure that the venues are up to international standards. That is why we are doing everything possible.
The Sierra Leone National teams are attending a training camp at the Siaka Stevens Stadium.
“We have a strong pool of players to choose from and we are confident that our selection will land us one spot each (Men and Women) for the Commonwealth Games in Australia,” said coach Sorie Kamara.
According to Benson Bayoh, seven countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Mauritus, Lesotho, Seychelles, Ghana and Namibia have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
