
The Chair of the Premier league Board, Saffa Abdulai, said out of the Le2 billion given by the government to the running of the league, each of the 13 teams will receive Le50 billion each. The Le650 million will be divided between the competing teams. Referees will get Le200 million. The remaining Le1,150,000 has not been allocated. He also confirmed that the League will start on the Sunday 26 January 2019 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium with a game between Mighty Blackpool against End East Lions with Mighty Blackpool as host. The Minister of Sport said he is standing as sports fan and appealing to other fans to come to the games to support the Premier League. He also revealed that he will try very hard to see the start the of the division leagues and the female league. He presented a cheque for Le2 billion to the Chair of the Board and he warned the Board that this money should be used for the intended purpose. The acting Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), President Brima Mazola Kamara, said the football association is in charge of running football in the country so “…for this reason I have the honor to launch this year Sierra Leone Premier League.”
