In another development, Bunturabie Jalloh who carried the country’s flag in the opening ceremony of the Olympics will take to the pool today Friday afternoon at around 7:05 pm Sierra Leone local time to contest in the 50m freestyle event.
The 18 year old SSS 4 pupil of Bilingual International High School Murray Town has a qualifying time of 54.87. But according to her coach Bobson Mansaray she has improved that time in recent competitions.
Jalloh is placed in heat 2 where she will face tough challenges against Mariama Dioulde Sow from Guinea with a time of 44.59, Tajikistan Anastasiya Tyurina with a time of 38.48, Nazlati Mohamed Andhumdine from Comoros with 37.64, Benin Laraiba Gnon Cessy with 37.67, Roukaya Moussa Mahamane Seibou from Niger with 38.98, Chloe Marie Helene Sauvourel from Central African Republic with 46.55 and Fatima Almahmeed from Bahrain who’s latest time was not given.
According to her she said their goal is to put up the best of their performance in the pool and make their country proud by improving their personal best times and their world rankings.
“There have been a lot of challenges to get here. We trained very hard to make it to the Olympics and now we have to make sacrifices to show the world that Sierra Leoneans can swim”.
