
Mercury International company secretary Dawn Cummings-John has said that Mercury International are very passionate about sports and youth development.
She made this statement during a press conference before the start of the stakeholder’s premier league at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.
She also stated that as a company they are sponsoring sports not only football but other sports like cricket and a host of others.
She stated that with the league commencing now, this is a step in the right direction and she hoped that football starts to develop in the country.
She also stated that with football people should be united and Mercury is always willing to support sports.
In another development the chairman for the stakeholder league Saffa Abdulai has revealed that Mercury International has given Le 156 million to the stakeholders to organize the league which they are grateful for.
He revealed that at the end of the league the winner will take home Le20 million, runner up Le10 million and the third place will carry home Le5 million.
And this league will play in different parts of the country as they want to take the game to the communities this time around.
