James Fofanah (J.J)One of the disqualified candidates in the Western Area Football Association elective congress James Fofanah (JJ) has called for the immediate resignation of the association’s Secretary General Kasho J Holland-Cole.
James Fofanah made this statement just after the imprecise postponement of the election by the Director of Sport Ibrahim Bangura on Saturday 16th July 2016 at the Atlantic Hall in the Siaka Steven Stadium, Freetown.
He said Kasho Cole was the main problem in WAFA and for that reason he should relinquish the position and allow other people to take them to congress.
“We cannot allow Kasho to take us to congress. He was the one who single handedly disqualified us and he has earlier bragged that from this day he will resign as WAFA Secretary General because he has a better job than this”.
“So I am kindly appealing that he give chance to others who might want to change the face of our regional football for the good of the game. We don’t need Kasho Cole anymore,” he reaffirmed.
He said if Kasho Cole fails to resign, the membership will meet and investigate the current WAFA executives and this investigation will be surrounding the Secretary General.
Fofanah admitted that he was so happy when the Director of Sport postpones the said elective congress because he doesn’t want August 3rd to repeat itself again.
“In the very first place I am the happiest man when the Ministry took this decision to postpone the election. We want an election that will see everyone involved. Not one that will disqualify those that matters in the game”.
“As far as I am concerned, I have been in the game for over 30 years and the constitution he Kasho is talking about was given to him by us in 2011 and there was nothing like disqualifying anybody in it. Unisa Alim Awoko Sesay was voted for in his absence, “he said.
According to Kasho Cole in one of the local media, he said each and every decision was not taken by him alone but an instruction from the executive who usually mandate him to write or prepare document on behalf of WAFA.
And he was working in the interest of WAFA by going strictly with what is embedded in their constitution to give every member a level playing field. Adding that was why he did not contest for any position.
He added nobody has the right to sack him because the mandate of every executive member have expired and as a Secretary General, he Kasho and the executive have the responsibility to take the membership to congress.
