
President of Sierra Leone Squash Racket Association who also doubles as the Chairman of Sport for All Commission, Umaru Kakay has said he was pleased with the performance of participants especially the active athletes who used it as an avenue to showcase their long distance running prowess.
Apart from that, Kakay said he was very impressed with the manner at which the breast cancer awareness and fund raising marathon was organized.
“And as the Chairman of Sport for All I will always give my support to such event because it has to do with exercise and it directly relates to sport,” Kakay stated.
“I am very delighted to see over 1,000 participant supporting the Think Pink Foundation to achieve their goal. I am so happy to see this kind of turnout and I hope those who came will pass the message to those that were unable to witness this event,” Kakay said.
Kakay admitted that the marathon was well in place as it attracted people from all facet of life. “A lot of people have got the notion from this event that breast cancer is real and they should be very cautious about it,” he stated.
He concluded that Sport for All Commission will be staging similar exercises to keep people of Sierra Leone healthy and very fit. “As the chairman of Sport for All am working on modalities to ensure we sensitize the entire nation that exercise is very important and it should be done at least on a weekly basis,” the Chairman said.
