Shooting Stars head coach Alimamy Turay has told Awoko Sports that he felt “happy for the victory even though I was expecting my boys to win by a two or three goals margin.”
He warned “We need to do more in the return leg in Conakry,” adding “I’m sure of winning in Conakry to qualify.”
He made this statement after his side narrowly defeated their Guinean opponents by a goal to nil on Saturday in the 2015 CAF U-20 first round return leg qualifying match at the Wusum stadium in Makeni.
The only goal came eight minutes to the break when Sorie Barrie capitalized on a defensive blunder and hit a ball between the two Guinean central defenders from the edge of the box to register his team’s first goal of the qualifiers.
During the match in the eleventh minute after Shooting Stars Alimamy Bundu’s goal was ruled off side, he placed the ball into the far corner of the net after a nice build-up, sending the Wusum Field crowd into wild Jubilation.
During the second half of the match their opponent when on the offensive looking for an equalizer that never materialized until the end of the match.
According to Guinean coach Manjou Diallo, they are going all out to overturn the result in Conakry and qualify for the next stage of the competition.
