The Deputy Minister of Sports, Al Sankoh Conteh says, “I am very happy with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for training sports associations”.
The Minister made this statement during the closing ceremony of the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association on Monday 12th 2014, at the Presidential Lounge at the National Stadium.
He said that it was good for the coaches, and that the participants benefited a lot from the mentoring of experienced international coaches during the training.
He said that such training will empower the coaches to administer matches at international standard.
The Deputy Minister further noted that they are going to make the facilities available to the swimming association, but that they need to go by the rules and regulations set by Stadium Management.
NOC President, Dr. Patrick Coker remarked that they have supported the Swimming association more than any other association.
For that, he appealed to the association to organize a swimming competition in the next six months.
The Technical Director of the association, Victor Carew stated that they are the first in West Africa to have gone through the level-2 clinic, which he considered a big boost.
He added that come next year, they will be trying their best to organize a level-3 clinic, since they want to take the sports to a higher level.
