Sierra Leone Sports: George Wyndham will take on Yan Zhang of China today

Sierra Leone’s hopeful in this year’s Paralympic Games George Wyndham has been placed in Group F alongside Yan Zhang of China and Wanchai Chaiwut of Thailand.
George will play his first match in the  Games on Thursday 8th September 2016 against Yan Zhang of China in the best of five matches at round 17;20 Brazilian time and 20;20 Sierra Leone time. The match will be played at the Table Tennis arena in Rio using table 7.
George is determined to win the match against one of the best Wheelchair players in the World Yan Zhang. The 49 year old is ranked sixth in class 4 and 12 in men in wheelchair in the whole and was ranked second in Class 4 in May 2013.
He has won 12 major titles including 2015 Asian Championships Gold in Teams class 5, 2014 Asian Para Games Gold in Teams class 5, 2014 World Championships Gold in Teams class 5, 2012 Paralympic Games Gold in Teams class 4-5, 2009 Asia and Oceania Championships Gold in Teams class 4, 2009 Asia and Oceania Championships Gold in Open singles standing and 2007 Asia and Oceania Championships Gold in Teams class 4 and host of others, and he has also won 14 major medals and five minor medals.
Since Zhang started playing he has played 342 matches won 267 and lost 75 matches. He has represented China in many major competitions which are giving a lot of experiences.
According to George Wyndham no matter the position he has in the world, he is going all out to make sure he wins which is his main focus.
Presently George is ranked 3rd in Africa, 32 in class 4 and 149 in wheel chair in the world.
They are 18 class 4 players that are taking part in the competition and they have been divided into six groups of three players and the best two best players proceed to the first round of the competition.
On Friday 9th September 2016 Yan Zhang will play against Wanchai Chanut of Thailand at 09;40 at table 3 and in the evening 18;00  Brazilian time and 21;00 Sierra Leonean time. George will play against Wanchai Chanut of Thailand.
