Mustapha Elmuzay Kamara is looking forward to defending his title with great anticipation on Sunday 28 May 2017 at the Street Child Marathon in Makeni.
The fast-paced runner and distance marathoner will return to Makeni and hopes to set a new record.
Elmuzay ran the 42.2 kilometre marathon in 2016 in a record-breaking time of 2:22:00, which was his personal best time.
In last year’s event, he broke Osman Charlie’s national record of 2:29:00 to claim gold. Charlie’s record stood for three years. Many are eager to see how long the record will last. This year, he is hoping to win the marathon faster than he did the last time.
The road king from Waterloo said, “I want to win again with a much improved time. I was focusing on running faster during my training to improve my personal best”.
“It will be a tough challenge, as the likes of Charlie, who is a great marathoner, and Shieku, who are my biggest competitors, might want to put up a great showdown for the title. But honestly, with all odds I will win against them in Makeni on Sunday,” he boasted.
According to Osman Charlie he is doing everything possible to make sure that he wins this year’s marathon. He is training intensively ahead of the marathon.
