The newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association past Friday had a dialogue with the Sports Minister in which the latter emphasised that the game should not be focused on the Western Area alone, but countrywide.
Speaking to the delegation led by Bournes-Coker at his Bishop Building Office, Ahmed Khanou was of the opinion that Sporting Associations should meet with their membership, as he had no special interest in any discipline.
He lauded the Cricket executive, for bringing on board those who were on the aggrieved side a week before the elective congress, and therefore urged the executive to keep the flame burning as they should focus on taking the game to the schools.
The Sports Minister reflected that few months ago, the cricketers brought laurels to this country, both female and male teams, and they were not amply rewarded then. He said to the delegation “you can check your bank accounts the allowances are there.”
Ahmed Khanou stressed that our athletes should not be going out cap in hand begging, and therefore government would ensure that they dish out the necessary support so that laurels could be won in the international arena.
He further called on all sporting disciplines whose executives are in disarray, to embrace each other for the growth of their various associations.
