The Olympic family will be moving to Rutile, southern Sierra Leone, to celebrate this year’s activities for the first time on Saturday 21st November 2015.
According to the Secretary of the Olympic Day organizing committee, A.G. Koroma who also doubles as the Administrative Secretary of the National Olympic Committee, everything has been put in place to make sure that this year’s activities become a success.
He stated that apart from the usual running, other sporting activities like volleyball, basketball and Olympic education will also be part of the activities and also various sports personalities will make statements. A cultural performance and certification ceremony will climax the day’s activities.
He also revealed that Olympic Day Activities, which is held annually on June 23, is celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries. Commemorating the birth of the modern day Olympics Games in 1894, Olympic Day’s mission is to promote fitness, well-being, culture and education, while promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
