Agape school on Friday came very strong to win this year’s NOC Samsung football competition after defeating Olympicafrica team by four goals to one(4-1). All the goals were scored in the first half of play with Agape dominating most part of the match.
This is the first time, Agape school is winning the Samsung competition after displaying a superb performance throughout the competition.
During this month’s competition, a lot of young talent within the Goderich community have been ear- marked by the organizers. These players will be selected to play for the Olympicafrica team in the next competition.
This Olympicafrica team will served as a National team for the schools that are participating in the competition.
After the match, the best player goes to Abdulai Barrie of Agape school, the best goalkeeper goes to Mohamed Conteh of Olympicafrica team and the highest goal scorer is Melvin S. Kanu.
The NOC President, Dr. Patrick Coker in his statement, said he is happy to be at the end of the competition and before such competition, was for participation but now schools are competing.
He went further to wish all those who took part in the competition and assured them of such competition.
The Women and Sports Commission, Pamela Williams, in her own contribution, appealled to the organizers to start to include women in such competition.
The Olympicafrica Director Henry G. Moore said that the competition is a success and thanked those who have taken their time to organize this month’s competition without any major incident.
He revealed that four years ago, this centre was not like that but the NOC came on board to develop the center. He also commended all of the schools who participated in the competition and said all of you are winners.
