The on-going local Premier football league has come to an abrupt end, after 10 big clubs out of the 14 participating teams, yesterday Monday July 23, 2013, signed a petition to no longer honor any fixture of the SLFA Premier League.
A Press Release signed by the Chairmen, Secretary-Generals, Vice-President and General Manager of Gem Stars, Kamboi Eagles, Old Edwardians, FC Kallon, Bo Rangers, Ports Authority FC, Mighty Blackpool FC, Central Parade FC, Freetown City FC and Diamond Stars FC, dated 29th July 2013 reads: “further to the Press Release issued by the Normalization Committee on the 28th day of July 2013 disqualifying five (5) contestants for Executive positions for the SLFA elections, the undersigned clubs considered the decision to be unfair and erroneous and have therefore resolved that: with immediate effect, we will no longer honor any fixture of the ongoing SLFA Premier League.”
In fact, to make good of the resolution, the match that was supposed to take place between Mighty Blackpool and Bo Rangers at the Bo Coronation Field on Monday July 29 2013, never materialized, as the visitors returned back to Freetown without kicking a ball, after hearing the decision of the Normalization Committee.
