The Captain of the Freetown Golf Club Arne Johansen, has disclosed that the 2018 edition of the Sierra Leone Open Golf Tournament will involve golfers from 8 nations with a star prize of US$25,000 and US$10,000 for the winner.
For the first time he said the tournament will have a female professional golfer from Senegal.
He appealed to all the golfers to obey the local rules during the competition, as they will be using the royal and ancient rules.
Johansen thanked the journalists for their good work in promoting the game of golf to the public, but called for more coverage on their daily sporting programs.
The captain said that there are good golfers in Sierra Leone, but they lack the opportunity to gain experience through international exposure.
One of the sponsors Jamal Shallop of Country Lodge Hotel called on Sierra Leoneans to go in their numbers to support the Sierra Leone golfers to win this year tournament
