Sierra Leone Sports: 10 countries to participate in Commonwealth qualifiers

Salone Female team playersBenson Bayoh, head of the referee commission of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association said, ten countries have shown interest in participating in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers slated for 27-29 of this month.
Bayoh said this is the return of international beach Volleyball to the pristine sands of Lumley Beach as Sierra Leone hosts the first African Commonwealth tournament ever.
He said that fresh from the FIVB World Championships in Vienna, Sierra Leone will face off with other African representatives at the World championships such as Mozambique and South Africa for the only slot in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April 2018.

Teams from the sugar plantations of Seychelles and Mauritius will sweat it out with the best female athletes of 2016, Fatmata Binta Bah, who would be challenged by the Fofanah ladies – Maria and Bernadette and Zainab Kamara for a place on Sierra Leone team.
This event is presented by the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association partnering with the National Tourist Board and the Ministries of Sports and Tourism with support from Mercury International.
The beach Volleyball Director, Coach Sorie Kamara said that the Sierra Leone team has played a series of friendly matches among themselves to improve their fitness ahead of the tournament.
Over the weekend the first match ended with a win for the then U-21 World Championship debutant Binta Bah and Maria Fofanah against the experience of Zainab Kamara and Bernadette Fofanah with result 2-0(21-16&21-7)
