The Russian Grand Prix of Arab Boxing scheduled from July 27 to August 12, 2021 in Moscow, Russia, will bring together businessmen, athletes and journalists from more 100 countries taking part, and Sierra Leone is well prepared to be part of the event.
Sierra Leone will be going to the competition with a 20 man delegation including Businessmen, Ministers, NSA officials, Journalists, coaches and Athletes according to the instructions given by the organizers.
Preparations are well underway in Sierra Leone so as not to miss this world meeting in Moscow as this is going to be the next biggest event in Russia after the Winter Olympics few years ago in Socchi.
The president of the Sierra Leone Arab Boxing Association Arnold Sengbe Pieh and his executive met with the journalists early this week to raise the awareness of the rules of the sport and to explain about the sport’s and the benefits of the International Federation of Arab Boxing (FIBA), represented in Africa by the Federation African, the Islands and Arab Boxing (FAIBA).
Mr Sengbe Pieh averred that the Russian Grand Prix is the World Meeting of Arab Boxing and during his meeting with officials of FIBA and other authorities, the President of the International Federation, Dr Al-Sudairy said that the participation of more than 1,000 professionals from Arab and African and Caribbean countries, and many ministers from youth and sports, and that the lists of names have been approved in principle and coordinated with the Russian Foreign Ministry in order to provide facilities for their participation.
At this important meeting of Arab Boxing in Russia, a strong Sierra Leone delegation is expected to be there headed by the Minister of Sports as this inaugural tournament is expected to benefit Sierra Leone in the future.
The President noted that the Athletes have been under intensive training and already they have plans to take the sport to the different schools after the Russian Grand Prix.
