Police Constable Mohamed Kelfala Massaquoi attached to the Hill Top Police Station, on Wednesday 23rd October 2019, told the Court that he was attacked and pelted with stones by thugs at Regent Community, when they went to rescue Honourable Hindolo Gevao. Honourable Hindolo M. Gevao of Consistency 003 in Kailahum District was allegedly attacked by thugs at his residence in Regent on Saturday 28th September 2019. Amongst the people that allegedly attacked Gevao are Kelfala D. Bayoh, Abdul Bishop Koroma, Ahmed Konneh, Ibrahim Sesay and five others. The accused were charged with several related counts of riotous conduct by the Sierra Leone Police, and, they are presently before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Pademba Road Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 Constable Massaquoi recognized the accused and recalled the date of the incident in question. He pointed out that on the said date, he was at the office, when a telephone call was received by Inspector Shaika Bangura, from Honourable Gevao, that he is under attack by thugs. He said along with other police officers they boarded a police vehicle and drove to the scene at Regent under the command of their Inspector Bangura, who also led the trip. “On our arrival, we met the thugs pelting stones on the house of the honourable.”

The witness said he was trying to calm down the situation by speaking to the accused, when he was pelted with stones on his head by the second accused Kelfala Deen Bayoh. The witness furthered that while going through such pain, the third and fourth accused Amara Fallah and Ahmed Kanneh respectively hit him also with stones on his back.” I felt sharp pain and I was uncomfortable. ” The witness said he was taken to the Regent Community Clinic, where he was given first aid treatment and later realised that the accused have been arrested. The accused are already on bail and Magistrate Bonnie adjourned the matter to 5th November 2019.
