Sierra Leone’s qualification for the Afcon in Cameroon is now slim as their two double headed matches with Nigeria ended with both team securing two points each. In Nigeria both sides played to a four all draw (4-4) and ended with a goalless draw at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown.
Sierra Leone now has three points from 4 matches while their opponents Nigeria still lead the group with 8 points from 4 matches, with Benin in second position with 7 points from 4 matches, and Lesotho at the bottom with 2 points from 4 matches In the group ‘L’ it remains two matches each for the teams. Sierra Leone’s next match will be in Lesotho in March while Benin will host Nigeria and the final match in the group will see Sierra Leone host Benin while Nigeria will host Lesotho.

Sierra Leone played only its second closed door match with the first being against Lesotho. This decision came from FIFa because of the complaint from Liberia in the World Cup preliminary match .
