The Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) with funds from Comic Relief through Y-Care International has trained ninety Ebola survivors on post Ebola project at YMCA compound, Kambuwabu sectin in Kenema.
In his statement the regional coordinator east YMCA Francis Amodu said, the post Ebola project geared to empowering Ebola survivors to be trained in vocational skills entrepreneurship and business doing activities. Francis Amodu stated that the project is meant purposely for Ebola widows and care givers in order to be able to sustain livelihood of their families.
The regional coordinator stated that the project is also aimed at establishing fifteen school clubs, programs on water and sanitation, and peer health educations among others. Francis Amodu maintained that the project has components to train disaster risks reduction members and the formation of community steering groups in Burma, Nyandeyama and Kpetema sections where the projects will be implemented.
Mr. Amodu further stated that the project will roll over for a period of two years with effective implementation and monitoring from the YMCA. He called on all the participants to take the training serious for the benefit of their families and the community as a whole.
