Sierra Leone News:New Apostolic Church concludes nationwide food donation

New Apostolic Church Mission Aid (NACMA) on Thursday concluded a nationwide distribution of food items to quarantined homes in different districts in the country. This second segment of donation is in response towards the fight against the Ebola epidemic that has affected and infected many people especially women and children. The items which include bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, cartoons of tin tomatoes, cartoons of Maggie and cartoons of sardines were handed over to all their central churches in the country for onward presentation to quarantined homes valued at €30,000. During the presentation ceremony at the New Apostolic Church in Lumpa, Western Rural District, the Administrative Clerk/Help Coordinator, Abdulai K. Sannoh, said that funding for the donation came from offerings of church members in South Germany, to restore hope in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, that all is not lost with Ebola outbreak. He said the Church had earlier presented disinfectants and educational materials to their different branches for sensitization and promotion of hand-washing, which is keen in preventing the virus. Sannoh, appealed to people to go according to the advice given by the Ministry of Health by avoiding body contact, stop washing the dead and caring for the sick at home but report to the health center for treatment. He said, Ebola can be kicked out of Sierra Leone when people change their attitude and listen to the preventive measures by the Health Ministry. Presenting the items, Apostle Albert Garber, said he was not surprised at the donation made as the church has been complementing Government efforts in putting a smile on the faces of Sierra Leone. He said this donation is a show of care for the souls and communities affected by the Ebola, adding that the food items will help replenish the immune system of those under-quarantined. Apostle Garber thanked their Church members in South Germany for thinking of Sierra Leone at this crucial time and assured that the items will be distributed judiciously. Receiving the items, the District Elder, Samuel Kabia for the Western Rural District also thanked the givers for sharing with them, especially when the Ebola is leaving more children orphaned.
