Sierra Leone News:For alleged stolen Jeep… Le 59M bail for accused

Magistrate Abou Bhakarr Binneh Kamara of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 on Wednesday granted the second accused Thomas Ngadjai bail in the sum of fifty nine million Leones (Le 59,000,000) in this alleged stolen jeep matter.
Police prosecutor sergeant 549 Sesay M. objected to bail for the first accused Alhaji Kallon noting that “My lord I have no comment regarding the granting of bail for the second accused but I am vehemently opposed to bail for the first accused”
According to Magistrate Binneh Kamara “bail refused to the first accused and bail granted to the second accused in the sum of fifty nine million Leones two sureties, who must produce national identity card and must be residents of the Freetown municipality, bail is to be approved by the master and registrar” the Magistrate affirmed.
Both accused were charged with two counts by the police. Count one is for conspiracy contrary to law and the particulars of offence stated that both accused on Wednesday 29th June 2016 at No.4 Hill Top, Hill Station in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to wit larceny and count two is for larceny contrary to section 2 of the larceny act of 1916 and the particulars of offence stated that both accused on that same date in Freetown stole one vehicle Nissan Xtera jeep with registration number AKQ 319 valued at fifty four millionLeones(Le54,ooo,ooo) while in custody of Alcot Lappia property of Omar Jawarah.
The matter was adjourned by Magistrate Binneh Kamara on Wednesday 20th July 2016.
