Sierra Leone News:Alleged IPAM exams malpractice…Accused admitted not to be a student-PW1

Prosecution witness (PW1) Darlington Bockarie Bangura on Monday at the Freetown Magistrate court No.1 in front of Magistrate Binneh Kamara while concluding his testimony noted that the first accused Marcus Kanu told him that he had seen the individual he came to take the exam for.
Prior to his confessional statement to the witness, the accused according to the witness had claimed to be a student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and a third year student in the department of pure and applied accounting.
The witness furthered that, he asked the accused to name three modules that are offered in year three and the accused was unable to respond and he had to leave the St Edwards centre shortly to distribute graph papers at Prince of Wales centre, allowing the accused to go ahead with the exam for the time being.
Darlington said when he came back, he met another invigilator interrogating the first accused relating to his eligibility as student of IPAM and he had to continue from there.
The witness maintained “I asked him who is the current Head of Department at Pure and Applied and he replied to me as one Vapour, and I asked him about the full name of Vapour and he was unable to tell me also.”
The witness furthered that he had to inform the Police at St Edwards Secondary to take the accused for further questioning and the first accused pleaded with him to call one Iscandri.
The witnessed maintained that after arresting the accused, on their way, the first accused told him “I have seen the individual that I came to take the exam for.”
Darlington maintained that he called the second accused Abdul Mohamed Kamara inside the car and he admitted to know the first accused noting that he sent him to take the mathematics exam on his behalf.
According to the witness the second accused told him that it is a reference module and he had sat twice to it and he was unable to pass and they can settle it quietly.
Darlington said that he handed them over to the Administration at IPAM and later made statement at the Central Police station.
The accused were charged with four counts and according to the particulars of offence that on Monday 20 June 2016 at St Edward Secondary School Kingtom the accused conspired with other people unknown to commit a crime to wit wilfully making false statement.
The matter was stood down by Magistrate Binneh for cross examination.
