Magistrate Otto During on Tuesday at the Siaka Steven Street Magistrate Court No.8 in Freetown sentenced a seventeen year old boy to one year in custody for stealing a car battery.
The offender being charged with larceny pleaded guilty to the offence after it was read to him by the court clerk.
Legal Aid Board counsel, J.T. Deen Tawarallie making his mitigation plea on behalf of the offender said that the offender, though he pleaded guilty to the charge has no criminal record. He went on to say that from the file what the complainant wants was for the offender to be disciplined so that he could learn his lesson adding that the offender has expressed remorse for his action.
He further pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy.
After the judgement, the offender was taken to the remand home in order for him to serve his sentence.
