Sierra Leone News: Youth Coalition empowers Soja Tong for Ebola prevention
A delegation from the National Youth Coalition in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth on Wednesday donated buckets and chlorine to the Soja Togn Community as a way of empowering them in the fight against Ebola. Delivering the items, the National Executive President of the National Youth Coalition, Morlai Conteh admonished the community people to realise that the Ebola outbreak is real, as they have witnessed the number of cases and deaths recorded in the country. Conteh noted that the outbreak of the dreadful disease has caused serious setback in the country for which it is very necessary for citizens to change their behaviour, as the virus is not a respecter of anyone irrespective of tribe, race, religion or political affiliation. He called on the community members to speedily report any sign of the disease to the nearest health centre, and equally encouraged health workers to be very careful in diagnosing reported signs in a way that will not scare people from visiting hospitals. Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the Chief Imam of the community, Shiek Minkailu Sesay, thanked the delegation for remembering the community in a crucial moment like this and urged all to inculcate cleaning habits, as it is a major way of preventing the spread of the virus. Sheik Sesay encouraged the Youth Coalition and government to remember the community at all times, especially in development. The community people were taught how to use the chlorine and the buckets were distributed to each street in the Soja Togn Community. By Keifa M. Jaward Friday August 08, 2014
