Sierra Leone News: Young inventors cry for help
Onlookers were yesterday struck in disbelief as Isaac and Joseph controlled a locally made remote controlled tractor and dump truck in front of the Post Office, Siaka Stevens Street. The toy trucks were not just moveable but were also fully functional, even the dummy driver on the tractor could be seen controlling the steering wheel as the truck moves. Isaac and Joseph Kargbo are twins living at Jalloh Terrace, east end of Freetown. Since childhood they were fascinated with building stuff with copper wire from cars to airplane and spaceships. “Growing up we were very good at building things with copper wire, it’s like a talent we were not taught by anyone how to do it,” Joseph explained. “When we finish at the St Helena Secondary School and can no longer further our education, we started working as technicians. We built a shop where we repair TV, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets,” Isaac said. “Sadly, we have this creative genius to invent so many things but we lack sponsors to help us actualize our dreams. We decided to display what we can do today so that people can see what we are capable of doing and probably help us,” Joseph explained. The challenges are numerous, it not easy to take, for example, the trucks on display to have materials to build the trucks we had to scavenge one dumpsite to the other. This is a clarion call to well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to come and help to flourish talents that would help in revolutionizing the country tech industry. If anyone wants to help they can contact us on 079910962,” Isaac appealed. Wednesday January 13, 2016
