On 17 May 2018, Santigie Turay was found dead in a garage at Bathurst junction in Freetown. It was alleged that Sylvanus Foday and Joseph Abdulai murdered Santigie. They were charged with Murder by the Sierra Leone Police.
On Tuesday 19 June 2018, the accused appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 on Siaka Stevens Street. Testifying in Court, Detective Sergeant John A. He maintained that a knife was discovered in their possession and the matter was officially assigned to him for further investigation. “I issued a police medical request form to the deceased and he later returned with an endorsed medical form.”
The witness underscored that on 17 May 2018, he received information from the owner of the garage at Bathurst junction, Abdul Jalloh, that the complainant Santigie Turay was lying dead in one of his abandoned cars in the garage.
Detective McCarthy said, “When we arrived at the scene, we met the complainant lying dead in the vehicle and the scene of crime officer took photographs of the corpse”.
The witness said they later took the deceased to the Connaught Hospital for a postmortem examination and on 23 May 2018, the examination was conducted by Consultant Pathologist Dr. Owizz Koroma.
