On 24 October 2016, in Waterloo, Ibrahim Sesay and Sorie Kargbo allegedly broke into Abdul Rahman Fofanah’s house and stole assorted items worth over Le3 million. Both of them were arrested and charged with Burglary contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
Following preliminary investigations at the Magistrate Court they were committed for trial at the High Court. At the High Court both accused were granted bail but only Sesay met the bail conditions. Kargbo pleaded guilty to the allegation but Sesay denied the charge.
On Tuesday 12 June 2018, the presiding Justice, Bintu Alhadi convicted Kargbo of the offence. State counsel, Jessie Tucker, informed the court that the penalty for such offence was life imprisonment. Defence counsel Cecelia Tucker pleaded with the court to forgive the convict.
Justice Alhadi sentenced Kargbo to six months imprisonment. She further seized the bail of Sesay and sent him on remand at the Correctional Centre in Freetown.
