On 11 April 2016, Patrick Bangura’s body was discovered in a toilet pit at his residence in Tengbeh Town in Freetown. Demoh Bangura, Sholay Val Renner and David Sesay are accused of killing him and dumping his body in the toilet pit. The three were charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Murder and Murder.
On Monday 18 June 2018, the accused appeared before Justice John Bosco Alieu of the High Court on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown. They are being held in remand.
During cross-examination by the accused lawyer, Ishmael P. Mammie, Inspector Albert Humper noted Demoh Bangura denied killing the deceased in all of the statements obtained during the investigation.
The witness furthered, “During our investigation we found there are over 15 people who are living in that compound where Patrick was found dead.” Inspector Humper said that most of those people are using a single pit toilet. He said he is not aware if the deceased was placed in the toilet by residents of the compound or fell into the pit by his own cause.
The witness said he was not aware whether other people have access to the compound where the deceased was living. The State Counsel, J.M.S. Bull, objected to several questions put forward by Mammie.
Justice Alieu remanded the accused to the Female and Male Correctional Centres, respectively, and adjourned the matter to Monday 25 June 2018.
