A Timber merchant, Ali Suma who recently had the sole rignts of cutting and exporting timber recently has landed himself in the Police net.
The businessman who was operating and stacking a huge pile of logs in the Waterloo York and Hastings Airfield area, was detained due to his continous harvesting and exporting of logs, even though Government slammed a halt to the exercise.
It is alleged that Suma has been detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for some days now helping the Police in their investigations.
He is said to have employed over 500 youths in the Waterloo area.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Timber Association President Barrie, said that his association completely disassociates itself from the activities of Suma, as he was given the monopoly without the association being involved.
