Blood pressure refers to the systematic arterial blood pressure (systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure), and Hypertension just means the increased BP, the main features of hypertension are as follows: systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 mm Hg, diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mm Hg).
In clinical science, Hypertension may be associated with heart, brain, kidney Organ dysfunction or organic disorder of the clinical syndrome.
Hypertension is the most common chronic disease among patients, if patients fail to control the blood pressure, it will lead to various complications, such as: cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, chronic heart failure, coronary heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, chronic renal failure, eye lesions and so on. So once a patient is diagnosed with high blood pressure, he/she needs to pay attention to timely medical treatment, and keep taking antihypertensive drugs and diet control.
The Common causes of hypertension are as follows:
1Genetic factors
About 60% of hypertensive patients have a family history. The present research shows us this situation is caused by polygene inheritance.
2.Mental and environmental factors
Long-term mental stress, excitement, anxiety, by noise or poor visual stimulation and other factors can also lead to hypertension.
3.Age factor
The morbidity to hypertension has increased with age, patients over 40 years is at high risk.
4.Lifestyle factors
Dietary structure is irrational, such as excessive sodium salt, low-potassium diet, insobriety, excessive intake of saturated fatty acids, all these lifestyle can make blood pressure run really high. Smoking can accelerate the process of atherosclerosis, a risk factor for hypertension.
5.The effects of drugs
Contraceptives, hormones, anti-inflammatory painkillers can affect blood pressure.
6.The impact of other diseases
Obesity, diabetes, sleep apnea syndrome, thyroid disease, renal artery stenosis, renal parenchyma damage, adrenal lesions, pheochromocytoma, other neuroendocrine tumors.
Clinical manifestations of hypertension
The symptoms of Hypertension vary from person to person. At the Early stage, the symptom maybe not so obvious, the common symptoms are dizziness, headache, neck plate tight, fatigue, palpitations and so on. This BP of patients will rise in case of fatigue, mental stress, mood fluctuations, and will return to normal after the break. With the process of the disease, blood pressure continues to rise; the following symptoms gradually appear, such as: headache, dizziness, inattention, memory loss, limb numbness, increased nocturne, palpitations, chest tightness, fatigue and so on. There is a certain relationship between Symptoms of hypertension and blood pressure levels, the majority of symptoms can aggravate after tension or fatigue, the blood pressure can rapidly rise higher in the early morning, so the risk of cardiovascular and cerebro-vascular events due to hypertension can ascend in the early morning.
According to a study published in 2005 by the American Journal of Natural Genetics, African-Americans are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure because of the genetic effects of chromosomes 6 and 21 in African patients, this means that the Africans is more susceptible to hypertension.
