Testifying before the court on Monday, Minister of Works, Housing and Infrastructure Kemoh Sesay disclosed that his relationship with Alpha Kanu is diplomatically sour after publications made by one Abdul Ajasco Bangura.
Mr Sesay made this statement following allegations of him receiving support from the management of Port Loko community radio station, Radio Bankasoka against Alpha Kanu for the flag- bearership position in the All Peoples’ Congress (APC).
After sturdy legal deliberations raised by both defence and prosecuting counsels with regards to the jurisdiction in which the said incident occurred, Magistrate Binneh Kamara ruled that the accused, Abdul Ajasco Bangura should be tried in any magistrate court irrespective of the location in which the incident occurred.
Abdul Ajasco Bangura charged with the offence of inciting to disturb public peace, defamatory libel, publication of false news and insulting conduct against Kemoh Sesay, Momoh Lawrence Turay and Mohamed Speaking Kamara was however granted a million Leones bail after submissions of trauma and dehumanised psychology of the said individuals was raised by the prosecuting counsel, SM Sesay.
In his testimony, Mr Kemoh Sesay alleged that on last Saturday there was disorder and misbehaviour among youths in the Port Loko District which he said was perpetrated by reason of the accused.
Mr Kemoh Sesay described the allegations levied against him by the accused as baseless and false; as he pointed out that he has no intention of vying for the said position adding that the seat of presidency is not vacant.
The usual act which was referred as a political in-fight by Kemoh Sesay led to the unfriendly relationship between himself and Alpha Kanu.
Identifying Turay and Kamara as manager and news anchor respectively of the said station, Mr Sesay further stated that the accused also wrote a letter to the management and Board of the station recommending demissal of the said persons.
According to Kemoh Sesay, the accused on the 1st to 3rd September 2016 did several publications via social media and other means asserting that the said management and staff are promoting and supporting his political ideology as against Alpha Kanu which resulted to a political in-fight in Port Loko district.
Meanwhile, the matter was adjourned to 8th October, 2016 whilst Magistrate Binneh Kamara re-echoed that Surties should also produce title deeds valued at a million Leones, national passport, bank statement up to sixty million Leones and both should reside in Freetown.
