The Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) Secretariat in the office of the Vice President has ended a-day’s multi stakeholders’ session at District Council hall on Nyandeyama Road in Kenema City to discuss food security and food nutrition security.
In his statement, the National Coordinator for SUN said that in November 2013 when they launched the SUN, they were demonstrating government’s commitment to food security and food nutrition security in the region.
Dr. Mohamed Beva Foe called on everyone to join the bandwagon to ensure national food and nutrition security. He also called development partners and multi stakeholders to participate in the process in order to save the lives of vulnerable women and children in the country. He disclosed that mothers and children are the most vulnerable people to poor nutrition in communities across the country. He said the role of SUN therefore is to coordinate the supports of donors and government to the councils. He assured of their readiness to provide technical support to councils at all times to achieve food and nutrition security. He therefore appealed for unity in the work to achieving the national objective on food and nutrition security.
