Following the Bank’s response to the Cholera Epidemic last year, at Mabela and Old Wharf communities, over 100 staff of Standard Chartered Bank Sierra Leone, last Saturday 17th August 2013 volunteered at the Congo Town (Kolleh Town) and Murray Town (Banana Water) communities to educate the deprived on prevention and treatment of the Cholera disease, to combat the epidemic in the country.
This is a direct response to the governments call on all well meaning organizations in Sierra Leone to help fight against cholera and reduce the death toll of citizens contacting the virus.
Standard Chartered Bank in partnership with the Ministry of Health (Health Education Unit) toured the length and breadth of both communities, taking the national key messages on Cholera to the doorsteps of citizens, educating members of the public on prevention and treatment, while distributing Oral Rehydration Salts to households.
