Saturday saw another drafting of riot Policemen to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) headquarters as the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting chaired by John Benjamin was being held under tight security.
The Police had to be drafted in when supporters of the different party bigwigs attempted to enter the building although their names were not in the list of members invited to the meeting.
The entire area was cordoned off by the Police and the supporters pushed to the other side of the street while the die-hard supporters bravely challenged the August rainfall.
The Executive Council is expected to decide whether the date of the expected Convention to vote in party executives will be convenient to hold in mid-August or should be deferred to another date.
As the meeting was being held at the party office, groups of supporters supporting the different candidates were seen gathered in clusters discussing the chances of their candidates and the future of the party.
