While highlighting the status of security in Sierra Leone at the police headquarters on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police, IG Francis Munu informed pressmen about the assessment visit by some experts to confirm Sierra Leone’s readiness for the deployment of personnel on peacekeeping mission. While elaborating on the various plans and focus of peace keeping by the Sierra Leone Police, IG Munu furthered on his recent visit to the peace keeping department in New York, which according to him, is part of the strategic plans to assess the readiness of the country for the deployment of personnel on peacekeeping mission and the inclusion of more females on the peacekeeping mission.
Speaking on the current status of security and the rate of crime in the country, Mr Al- Sheik Kamara, head of crime operations deliberated on the recent okada saga between the SLP and riders and the Lungi incident which he described as a security breach for which he commended the SLP for proactive efforts towards national security.
As various heads of operations registered their reports, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Richard Moigbe urged the public to help in maintaining national peace which he said promotes global peace, adding that the recent global peace index which place the country at the top in west Africa is the result of collaborative efforts of both the SLP and the public as a whole.
