As High Court on Siaka Stevens Street continues the trial of the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen and her Secretary General, Christopher Abdul Kamara, the Anti-Corruption Commission Investigator, Kiny Alie Brima Walker, has disclosed that he did not investigate the disbursement of the $50,000 USD stated in count one and two of the indictment.
Johansen and Kamara are facing eleven counts of corruption offences contrary to the Anti- Corruption Act No.12 of 2008.
Counts one is Misappropriation of Donor Funds while count two is Conspiracy to commit a Corruption Offence. According to the ACC, both accused between 7 July 2014 and 31 December 2015 in Freetown dishonestly appropriated the sum of $50,000 USD donated to the SLFA by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) specifically for covering costs involved in the conduct of Magnetic Resonance Test (MRTs) on 30 members of the Sierra Leone U-17 National Team in Niger as well as hotel accommodation.
On Monday 6 November 2017, the ACC investigator said within a period of one month after the money was sent to SLFA, $38,000 USD was withdrawn from that account. However, he did not explain how the money was disbursed noting that he did not investigate that aspect.
This was the fourth appearance of the accused. Johansen and Kamara are on a bail of Le500 million each. Thirteen witnesses have been stated at the back of the indictment to testify against the accused. The prosecution will proceed with the second witness on Wednesday 8 November 2017.
