The Minister of Finance, Momodu Kargbo, will present his 2017 budget projection to Parliament on Friday, November 11th. The 2017 national budget projects a total expenditure of Le4.797 trillion or the equivalent of $666 million.
About Le1.8 trillion of the budget will be spent on salaries and wages to government ministries, department and agencies. Also, Le846 billion is allocated to public debt charges.
For the smooth conduct of the 2018 general and presidential elections, about Le209 billion is allocated to the National Electoral Commission (NEC). Another Le180 billion is allocated to development activities dealing with national civil registration.
Ninety billion will be spent on the military and Le87.9 billion is slated for the Police.
There will be no salary increases, a source reports.
