Justice Miata Samba yesterday sentenced Barbar Kamara after he was found guilty of store breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the convict on the 5th September 2014 at Freetown, broke and entered the store of Fadir Nassan with intention to steal and henceforth stole three big cups of Gro powder milk, one cartoon of sardines with twenty four pieces, all summing up to five hundred and twenty five thousand Leones (Le525,000.00)
Five prosecution witnesses testified during the course of the investigation of the matter.
In her judgement, the judge said that section 26(1) of the Larceny Act which creates the offence of store breaking and larceny states that if one is found guilty of the said offence one shall be guilty of felony with a jail term not exceeding fourteen years imprisonment.
Reading through the testimonies of the witnesses, the judge said she was satisfied that the evidence is well prosecuted and therefore found the accused guilty of the said offence.
Although the convict pleaded with the judge to forgive him, Justice Samba said she was sentencing him to three years for him to learn lessons of integrity.
